Before joining SFG in October 2023, Katie managed a team of Student Journey Advisers at the University of Law. Katie was responsible for delivering a high-quality advice service, coordinating advisers to guide students through all aspects of their student journey. With a particular focus on student retention, progression, and success, Katie supported identifying students at risk of failure and delivering effective intervention strategies.

 

Before this, Katie spent six years in the Accommodation Team at York St John University, first as a Data and Systems Coordinator and later as a Student Accommodation Manager. As Student Accommodation Manager, Katie was responsible for c. 1800-bed halls and c. 600-bed nomination and head lease agreements. Katie also led and participated in steering groups and project boards around student induction and transition, student experience and accommodation supply and demand.

 

As Data and Systems Coordinator, Katie reviewed and developed policies and standard operating procedures to improve the team's efficiency. During that time, she assisted with redeveloping the application and allocation policy. She created a new process to enable the needs of disabled students to be reviewed and met more effectively. Katie led accommodation allocations and configured the team’s information management system to do so successfully. Katie created reports to monitor occupancy and student living patterns to feed directly into supply and demand modelling and inform the development of the university accommodation strategy.
