SFG analyses demand and supply for student accommodation bedspaces, and produces independent studies for universities, developers and investors.
In the last ten years our team has created 50+ demand studies, in support of residential strategies, off-balance sheet partnership projects, and investment transactions.
Recently SFG has provided demand studies for the following:
We have a partnership with Student Crowd to make use of its comprehensive and up-to-date UK data set. To this, we add our own extensive experience in each market. We understand that every university, and every town and city, has unique dynamics and unique issues. That is why we adopt a completely open mind when assessing specific markets, rather than arriving with a pre-conceived, off-the-shelf solution. We understand what is required to facilitate a transaction, what funders look for to ensure the ‘bankability’ of projects, and the importance of a coherent demand narrative.
This means that each of our reports is bespoke to a client, and tailored to a particular requirement. We regularly produce lighter-touch summaries to guide clients’ early stage strategies, as well as more in-depth reviews for transactions, including analysis of room types and rents, future scenario planning and sensitivity, saturation points, market trends, pipeline and planning policy, demographic shifts, student preference, and risks and opportunities. We advise each client about the appropriate level of advice at each stage of their projects.
Other universities that members of the SFG team have advised on demand and supply include Coventry University, Goldsmiths University of London, Kingston University, LSE, Royal Holloway University of London, Solent University, UCL, University of Birmingham, University of Leicester, University of Wolverhampton, and York St John University.
